no, they are not stupid. everything has to do with their capitalist tactics. one of the biggest industries in america, is the entertainment bussiness. the internet (aka the illegal downloading) is the biggest enemy of that industry. sure, there are better ways to treat that problem (chipper tickets etc), but those ways are harder in some cases and reduces the profit. so, the follow the easy solution: they proclaim us criminals, the tickets remain the same, the force us to buy them since we have no other choise in order to entertain our selfs, and the profits go sky high! ultimately, the few (the company owners) are the big winners, the many (wich are us) are the losers, and the coverments, gain legimitate access and control to our private data and information stream.
